The Saran wrap ball game has SO MANY names. What you call it really depends on your preferences. It’s crazy how many names there are for this Christmas ball game! Here are ten of them, all alone.

It’s a DIY party game, so you’ll hear many different names for it from all over the country and even around the world. Just choose the one that resonates with you the most.

4. How to Play

Saran wrap ball game instructions and rules are very simple. Whether you are playing this Plastic Wrap Ball Game with your kids or adults (or both), you will need a group of people!

Players should sit in a circle. The ball will be placed in the lap of the first player starting the round. After that, the dice will be given to the first person to their left, along with a small container in which to roll the dice to play the cellophane ball game.

The player with the ball will start unwrapping the ball and at the same time, the player with the dice will start rolling the dice. The player rolling the dice will want to roll a double as fast as possible so he or she could have a turn at trying to unwrap and win a prize.

Upon landing on doubles, a player yells, “DOUBLES,” and receives the ball. 

Any prize or party favor that is unwrapped during your turn is yours to keep!

It is imperative that each player keeps the plastic wrap ball on their lap. If it is on the ground, it will be uncovered far too easily. 

Following that, the game continues. The next person will begin to unwrap layers of plastic wrap from the ball shape to win party favors.

In order to cater to the needs of both kids and adults, we made two plastic game balls. There are goodies for the kids and a massive amount of cool stuff for adults, too.

Additionally, this allowed for more kid-friendly party prizes. As well as more age-appropriate prizes for adults. 

It was the most fun Christmas game that was played in our town last year!

5. How to Make the DIY Saran Wrap Ball Game

To begin, you will need a clean, clear area.

Next, lay out enough plastic wrap to start wrapping the grand prize in the center of the ball.

Third, continue to wrap dollar store items, lottery tickets, and lip balms with more layers of Saran wrap.

When creating your holiday cling wrap balls, ensure that you alternate your prizes in different locations and in different directions throughout the ball. In addition, add several layers of paper between each prize. 

Finally, you will wrap around and around until you run out of a wrapped gift, challenge cards, or a piece of candy.

If you are hosting Christmas parties, you might want to consider throwing in some candy canes (it’s budget-friendly) and having the ball go in the opposite direction if someone pulls out a candy cane. This is a great way of adding a twist to the game. 

During birthday parties, another idea would be to consider placing numbered unlit birthday candles inside the fun party game. If the number falls out, that number of people is skipped.
